Despite high inventory levels at dealers the Corvette Plant in Bowling Green has been producing some good numbers in September - see chart. For most of September the plant has been producing 45-50 Stingrays every day. Surprisingly they have been producing almost identical numbers of the Grand Sport. In fact when you combine Grand Sport and Grand Sport X their numbers are greater than Stingray production. Here is the September 15th production. Most of September has been quite similar

    Stingray 50
    GS 49

    Z06 20

    GSX 10
    ZR1 6

    ZR1X 4

Looks like the C8GS is getting a bigger production share compared to when the C7GS came out (Stingrays had a 41% total share in 2017 vs. 36% for the GS).

Also interesting to note that the C8GS represents a 23% premium over a base model, while 10 years ago it was only an 18% premium. Considering that Corvette price increases have exceeded inflation over that same period, it's clear GM is wanting to inch the brand further upmarket.

Interesting stats comparing the C7 Grand Sport premium to the C8 Grand Sport. Having factory ordered a 2022 Stingray and now a 2027 Grand Sport the difference is a bit of a shock. The currency adjustment that was done around 2025 was the biggest increase. That was a predictable change as the "leakage" of new Corvettes from Canada to the US market went from a trickle to a steady stream.

I agree that GM appears to be moving the C8 up market especially the GS. The next question is can they continue to produce and sell those numbers in the long term? Perhaps they can as they have made a major effort to sell the car to the international market. When we were travelling in Japan earlier this year we were surprised to see several C8s with right hand drive on the streets.
